Cat Ears and Eyes
Cat ears and eyes should be checked when you are grooming her. This way you can attend to minor matters and also check on the health of the ears and eyes
Cat's Ears
The ears need to be cleaned year round, but most often during the summer. If the ears look gunky, clean them gently with cotton batting moistened with tepid water. Wipe only the visible portion of the outer ear. Don’t saturate a cloth or cotton balls with excess moisture as it can travel to the inner ear and create problems for kitty.
Never stick anything into your cat’s ears. You could damage the eardrum which could lead to deafness.
If you notice any changes in kitty’s ears, you should consult a veterinarian.
Cat's Eyes
A lot of breeds have watery eyes. You should wipe the dried mucous with a damp cloth. The eyes can be cleaned using a mild salt and water mix. Use cotton swabs to rub around the eyes.
When grooming kitty, check the eyes for abnormal discharges, filminess or cloudy eyes. If you notice any of these conditions you should see a vet immediately.
